Day 67: Thank you for Being my Friend

If I told you, you could go on vacation without paying for a place to stay, transportation, food, or pretty much anything else while you were there (other than airfare)...would you go?

Of course you would.

Is that seriously a question?

Allow me to introduce you to two people.

Liz, and her boyfriend (soon-to-be-hubby) Chad.

Now, please just let the record show, when I decided to fly down to New Orleans, it had more to do with my desire to sew my wild oats with a best friend I hadn't seen since high school, than anything else.  I didn't do it expecting a free ride.  I mean, I knew my "hotel" was covered...but I figured I was on my own after that.

I wasn't.

Liz and Chad are probably two of the most hospitable people I know.  They opened up their house to me, drove me around town, fed me (Chad is quite possibly one of the greatest cooks EVER), or took me out to eat and picked up the tab.  And there was really no point in arguing (and believe me, at a few points, I tried), because they were just going to pay for it anyway.  I'm in the process of finding a very Sarah-esque way of paying them back (SURPRISE LIZ!), but something tells me it won't even come close.

Neither will words...but they're all I've got.

So Liz and Chad?  Thank you.  THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!  I can't say it enough.  Thank you for opening up your home, your hearts and your wallets.  Thank you for all the commentary and the side stories and explanations of everything.  Thank you for making coffee every morning (yum!).  Thank you for putting up with me and my knee.  Thank you for giving me shampoo and conditioner when I didn't pack any of my own.  Thank you for taking me to the Lower 9th Ward when I knew that was probably the last place you wanted to be touring around.  Thank you for delighting my inner tourist by taking me to Bourbon Street and the French Quarter when there's 95 million people in town for Mardi Gras.  Thank you for the laughs and the smiles and for being my personal taxi service.  Thank you for a warm bed to sleep in, a warm shower to clean up in, and a nice home to hang out in.

Thank you for taking care of me...

And thank you for being my friend :)
